Mango is a platform designed to connect people and foster meaningful online friendships worldwide. Unlike some other social media apps, Mango prioritizes safety and discourages direct interactions, focusing instead on user-initiated friend requests.

 

For Parents

If your child expresses interest in using Mango, we encourage you to review our comprehensive Parent's Guide, available on our website. This guide details our safety measures and provides valuable resources to help you navigate your child's online experience.

Creating a Safe Environment

We understand that online interactions come with inherent risks, similar to those encountered in real-world social settings. To mitigate these risks, Mango implements a robust safety framework:

  • Age Verification: Users must be 13 years or older to participate on Mango. We require users to provide their real date of birth during registration. Accounts identified as belonging to minors, either through our internal systems or user reports, will be immediately terminated.
  • Parental Consent: For users between 13 and 17 years old, parental permission is mandatory for account creation and Mango usage. Parents can learn more by accessing our Parent's Guide or contacting us directly.
  • Community Guidelines: All users must acknowledge and adhere to our Community Guidelines during account creation. These guidelines outline acceptable behaviour and clearly prohibit malicious activity on the platform.
Profile Management and Privacy
  • Age Verification (Continued): Once a user's date of birth is established, it cannot be altered. Accounts found to have misrepresented age information, either through internal detection or user reports, will be terminated.
  • Age Display: Users have the option to conceal their age publicly within the app settings.
  • Social Media Linking: Social media links on Mango profiles are private by default. Only established friends within the platform can access one another's social media connections.
  • Strict Age Segregation: To ensure a safe environment, Mango separates users by age group. Adult profiles (18+) are invisible to teenagers (13-17) and vice versa. This age filter is mandatory and cannot be disabled by users.
  • Location Privacy: As Mango prioritizes global friendships, location-based features are not available. Users cannot search for profiles based on proximity but can select their country from a designated list.
Content Moderation
  • Acceptable Content: Users can post up to three profile pictures. We utilize advanced technical tools to screen content, including:
  • Image Analysis: Ensures that iOS users upload at least one profile picture that clearly shows their face.
  • Image and Text Analysis: Identifies and prevents the posting of inappropriate content, such as nudity, sexually explicit material, or offensive language.
  • Human Moderation: Our team of human moderators reviews content that may bypass technical filters. They have the authority to remove inappropriate content and terminate associated accounts.
  • Community Reporting: Users can report inappropriate content or activity directly through the app. Reported content is reviewed by human moderators within 48 hours and may be removed, along with the associated account.
  • Community Guidelines Enforcement: Any violation of our Community Guidelines will result in account termination.
  • Community Awareness: Users are reminded of our Community Guidelines when they first post content on Mango.
User Empowerment and Support
  • Reporting and Blocking: Mango provides users with convenient reporting and blocking tools. Inappropriate profiles or behaviour can be reported by tapping the flag icon on a user's profile picture or through the profile settings menu. Reported profiles are reviewed by human moderators within 48 hours. Users can also block others, preventing them from seeing each other's profiles within the app. Blocked users can be managed through the profile settings menu.
  • Direct Support: If users encounter any personal issues or require assistance, they can easily reach out to our support team via two channels:
  • Support Email: Accessible directly through the profile settings menu within the app.
  • Alternative Email: Another option for contacting our support team.
